JANET VILAGOwner and Artistic Director Janet’s School of Dance
Janet Vilag has been teaching dance since 1971. She has been the owner and Artistic Director at Janet’s School of Dance since 1976. She has training in tap, ballet, jazz, baton, clogging, modeling and folk. She is certified by test to teach baton, tap and jazz. As a certified, “Class A” judge for World Twirling Association, she judges competitions for World Twirling Association and Twirling Unlimited throughout the United States. She is an active member of World Twirling Association, Dance Masters of Michigan-America, and Dance Educators of America. Her students have won many local, state, and national titles in baton, dance, and modeling. In 2010 she was honored as the Michigan Dance Masters member of the year. Besides teaching dance at her studio, Janet also teaches Polish Folk Dancing to a downriver organization, P.R.C.U.A Janet is the assistant color guard coach for the Carlson Marching Marauders, and has choreographed for Motor City Percussion, and Lake Effect drum lines.
Janet has a Bachelor of Science Degree from Eastern Michigan University. She retired in 2012 from the Gibraltar School District. Janet has three sons, Michael, Christopher, and Robert. Janet is a strong believer that dance builds not only the body but also the mind. Her goal in life is to introduce the world of dance to as many children as possible. |
LUCIA JELSOMENOBallet
Lucia Jelsomeno has danced for 15 years. Her repertoire includes ballet, tap, lyrical, Hawaiian, acrobatics, modern, hip hop, pointe, jazz, and also did competitive dance for about 10 years, and let's not forget Polish dance for 15 years as well.
She graduated from Northwestern Michigan College with a degree in Culinary Arts. |
MICHAEL ARENDT
Hip-hop, Jazz, Pom-pon and LyricalMichael Arendt has been dancing for twenty-four years. He has been trained in many different styles including jazz, hip-hop, lyrical, ballet, contemporary, and acrobatics. At the age of fourteen he began assisting in dance instruction and has been teaching dance for over ten years. His experience teaching includes all ages and ability levels from beginners to award winning competition groups. |
